News on HS2 in Staffs

South Staffs Water will need to move underground water pipelines to allow for the construction of the new railway.

To enable them to do this work and have a full understanding of local ground conditions, South Staff Water will need to carry out surveys in the area. These surveys will take place during March 2020. The works are from 08.00 am Saturday 7th March until 05:00 am Monday 9th March (inclusively).

South Staffs Water will be digging a trial ditch to determine the depth and condition of any existing pipeline that runs along the south bound verge of the A38 at Streethay Junction. You can read Streethay Junction South Staff Water works here.

Early works for HS2 are carried out by LM – a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and J. Murphy & Sons.

Over the coming weeks LM will be working near Huddlesford and Lichfield to prepare the route of the new railway ahead of main works construction. This work includes vegetation, hedgerow, tree removal and installing a fence.

To ensure safe access to our work sites along Cappers Lane we will be operating temporary traffic lights. These signals will be in operation between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm from week commencing 16 March for three weeks, subject to site and weather conditions.
